NARCO VS THE YOUTH OF NORTHEAST

NARCO means trafficking or dealing with an illegal drug. DRUGS are substances that are administered to patients to cure or prevent a disease. A narcotic is an unlawful drug. The 1,643-kilometer border between India and Myanmar is allegedly used as a transit area for drugs being smuggled into the northeastern region of the nation.

Northeastern states have a substantially greater (20%) prevalence of substance misuse among men than the rest of India, whether it be alcohol, smokeless tobacco products, or smoking.
According to reports, the average drug-injecting users are between 15-35 years, of which a majority (59%) were in the age group of 25–34 years, with a literacy rate of 87.7%. Regarding occupation, 20.6% are unemployed, and 15% are students. The increase in the percentage of school dropouts the lack of time dedicated by parents to their children, the lack of educational institutions, and the westernization of thoughts. The advancement of the medical and pharmaceutical sciences has made it possible to produce a wide range of hazardous synthetic compounds and inadequate action to stop drug trafficking has caused a chain reaction of undesired substance ingestion, which are some major factors contributing to the rising cases of drug abuse, especially among the youth.
